Causative verbs are used to indicate that one person causes a second person to do something for the first person.
The causative are : have, get, make

1. Have

‘Have’ as a causative verb expresses the idea that the person wants something to be done for them. This causative verb is often used when speaking about various services. There are two forms of the causative verb ‘have’.

Subject               : I, you, we, they, he, she, it

Causative            : Have (have, had, has)

The example:

1. I had my friend repair my cell phone. (my friend repaired my cell phone)
2. Indra has had a friend type all of his papers.
3. Edo is having his father contact an English teacher.
4. The editor had the contributor attend acomposition workshop.
5. Lala had her friend take her result test.
6. The student had the teacher speak slowly.

Pola Passive:

Keterangan :

Subject               : I, you, we, they, he, she, it

Causative            : Have (have, had, has)

The example:

1. Ali is having his car repaired this week.
2. The president is having a press conference arranged by his advisors.
3. Angga was having his hair cut when Ani called.
4. I had my house renovated last week.
5. He had his book returned as soon as possible.

2. Get

‘Get’ is used as a causative verb in a similar way as ‘have’ is used with the participle. This expresses the idea that the person wants something to be done for them. The causative verb is often used in a more idiomatic manner than ‘have’.

The example:

1. Joko got his son to type his poems.

3. Make

‘Make’ as a causative verb expresses the idea that the person requires another person to do something.

The example :

1. The robber made the teller give hime the money.)
2. The manager made the employee attend the meeting.
3. The teacher always makes the children stay in their seats.
4. Henymade her son be quiet in the meeting.
5. The president is making his cabinet members sign this document.
6. The woman made her daughter eat up the tomatoes.
