Anti-Religion defamation rally run in some regions in Indonesia

The demand for prosecution of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja “Ahok” Purnama for alleged religion blasphemy led to a severe crackdown in Jakarta. As reported by thejakartapost.com, In front of State Palace, police fired tear gas to the demonstrators insisting to remain in the area after instructed to disperse. They kept staying at the location because they were reportedly disappointed that their representatives could not meet President Jokowi. Then, at least two police trucks were burned and some injured people were taken by ambulance. The message from the National Police Gen. Tito Karnavian did not reach the police officers on the ground to stop firing tear gas. The police officers and the demonstrators at Monas and State Palace kept continuing the clash. The police kept firing the tear gas as the demontrators kept throwing the rocks and other objects to the police.
