What Happens When You Breathe?

Breathing is the process of moving air into and out of your body is called breathing. During inhalation, the diahragm and rib muscles contract, increasing the size of the chest cavity. Exhalation, the diaphragm and muscles relax, decreasing the size of the rib cage and volume of air in the lungs.

Do you ever notice your breathing?

Probably not.

Your breathing happens even when you don’t think about it. When you breathe, you take in oxygen gas from the air and exhale carbon dioxide gas and water vapor. Respiration is the entire process by which the body exchanges and uses gases.
